An easy honey soy salmon marinade with garlic and red pepper flakes. Just 5 ingredients, 15 minutes to marinate, and perfect for grilling, baking or the air fryer.
Whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl until smooth.
Marinade the Salmon
Pat the salmon dry and check for and remove and pin bones. Add half of the marinade along with the salmon to a 1-gallon zip-top bag or baking dish. Set the remaining half of the marinade aside. You will drizzle this on at the end.
Toss the salmon to coat, then press as much air out of the bag (if using) as possible, or cover with plastic wrap (if using a baking dish). Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 60 minutes, flipping every 15 minutes.
Oven Baking Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400F. Add the salmon and marinade to a medium baking dish. Cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 135F at the thickest part (the salmon will be slightly underdone at 135F, but will continue to cook while it rests).
Allow to rest for 5 minutes, then drizzle with reserved marinade and serve.
Air Fryer Instructions
Set the air fryer to 400F. Remove the salmon from the marinade, shake off any excess, and discard any remaining marinade from the bag or dish.
Place the salmon skin side down and air fry 6-11 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 135F at the thickest part (the salmon will be slightly underdone at 135F, but will continue to cook while it rests).
Allow to rest for 5 minutes, then drizzle with reserved marinade and serve.
Grilling Instructions
Preheat a grill to medium-high heat and oil the grates well. Remove the salmon from the marinade, shaking off any excess. Place skin-side down and grill without flipping for 6-8 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 135°F at the thickest part.
The sugar in the marinade can cause sticking, so resist the urge to move the salmon. Allow to rest for 5 minutes, then drizzle with reserved marinade and serve.
